Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly session adjourned over quorum issue, PTI absent

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly failed to achieve minimum attendance requirements during scheduled oath ceremonies for new representatives on reserved positions. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf members stayed away from the session, leaving just two legislators present. MPA Sher Ali Afridi brought attention to the attendance shortage early during proceedings. Speaker Babar Saleem Swati postponed the meeting until 2 PM on July 24. The absence prevented incoming lawmakers from completing their official swearing-in process.

Opposition Leader Dr. Ibaadullah accused the provincial administration of disrespecting parliamentary procedures. He told reporters that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has lacked proper Senate representation for more than twelve months. The opposition figure described current leadership as inexperienced politicians who damage democratic institutions. Dr. Ibaadullah announced plans to challenge the situation through legal channels and direct appeals to the Chief Justice. He maintained that no legal authority can prevent elected members from taking their constitutional oaths.
