Kibet says Gachagua's share remarks led to his government exit

Presidential aide Farouk Kibet responded to criticism from former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua during recent remarks made in the United States. Gachagua had accused Kibet and an unnamed Rift Valley legislator of providing poor advice to President William Ruto regarding school funding decisions. Kibet attributed Gachagua's removal from office to controversial statements about political shareholding arrangements. The aide challenged Gachagua's record of service to Kenyan citizens during his time as Deputy President. Kibet emphasized the administration's focus on transformational policies rather than divisive political rhetoric.

Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi defended government funding allocations for public schools against Gachagua's accusations. Parliamentary budget reductions limited per-student funding to approximately 17,000 shillings despite executive proposals for higher amounts. Mbadi explained that the government disbursed all allocated resources within approved budget constraints. The funding challenges have persisted across multiple administrations according to the Treasury official. Gachagua leads the newly established Democratic Change Party after departing the Kenya Kwanza government.
