Kiwa fires up Masvingo, Nkayi ballot clash, Shonhiwa faces Taruvinga

Zimbabwe Electoral Commission Deputy Chairperson Ambassador Rodney Kiwa declared preparations complete for council by-elections in two constituencies. Voters will select representatives for Ward 16 of Nkayi Rural District Council and Ward 7 of Masvingo Municipality. The Nkayi vacancy resulted from a councillor's death on July 17, while Masvingo's position became open on August 14. Electoral officials printed 6,450 ballots to serve 6,076 registered voters across both wards. Kiwa expects peaceful voting without operational difficulties.

Five candidates will contest Masvingo Municipality's Ward 7 position through various political affiliations. Nkayi Rural District Council's Ward 16 features four hopefuls seeking office. ZEC allocated six million dollars to fund both electoral processes. The commission completed training for all election personnel and established eleven polling locations. Officials urged participants to maintain orderly conduct throughout the voting period.
