Kovacic Out as City Suffer Early World Cup Blow

Manchester City lost Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic for the summer tournament. Doctors operated on his Achilles tendon recently. The surgery means Kovacic cannot play when his team travels to America for the Club World Cup. Manchester City made the announcement through official channels. The Club World Cup takes place across the United States during June. Manchester City joins Group Seven for the competition. Wydad from Morocco also competes against them. Al Ain represents the United Arab Emirates as another opponent. Juventus from Italy rounds out their group bracket.
