KPDN clears Budi95 of underfilled petrol claims

Malaysian authorities found no evidence of wrongdoing after investigating social media accusations that motorists received short measures of RON95 gasoline following the rollout of targeted Budi Madani RON95 subsidies. Enforcement director-general Datuk Azman Adam from the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry said on Sunday that inspectors examined six complaints about underfilled fuel tanks but discovered no violations affecting either volume or grade.

Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali directed an immediate probe to address consumer concerns transparently after posts circulated online alleging problems at pumps. Officials reviewed transaction logs and tested dispensing equipment, confirming the subsidy program had not compromised fuel delivery. Inspectors will continue monitoring stations through random sampling and precision checks.

Azman cautioned that businesses convicted under the Trade Descriptions Act 2011 face penalties reaching 250,000 ringgit or double that amount for subsequent violations, while individual offenders risk fines up to 100,000 ringgit, three years imprisonment or both punishments combined.
