Kremlin goes nuclear on Yale, branding it a foreign dissident factory

Russia just banned Yale University from operating inside their borders. The Russian Prosecutor General made the decision on Tuesday after looking at what the famous American school does. Officials said Yale cannot work in Russia anymore because they teach the wrong kind of people. The university runs programs that Russian leaders do not like. Moscow thinks Yale creates problems for their government.

Yale runs a special school that teaches students about world politics and diplomacy. Russian prosecutors say this school trains people who fight against foreign governments. These students learn how to become opposition leaders when they go back to their home countries. The Kremlin believes Yale students cause trouble for Russia and other nations. Russian officials worry about American universities spreading ideas they disagree with.

The ban means Yale cannot send teachers or students to Russia for any programs. Russian students cannot take part in Yale activities inside Russia either. The university must stop all work with Russian partners and organizations. American colleges have faced similar restrictions from Moscow before. Russia continues to limit Western educational programs that operate within their territory.
