Kusal Mendis' blitz in Dambulla flattens Bangladesh, praises calm Lanka

Kusal Mendis smashed a fantastic century as Sri Lanka crushed Bangladesh by 99 runs at Dambulla. The star batsman hit 124 runs to seal the three-match ODI series for his team. His brilliant knock helped Sri Lanka continue their amazing run of form against other countries. The island nation has won seven series from their last nine attempts. Mendis says the secret lies in their calm dressing room atmosphere.

Captain Charith Asalanka and head coach Sanath Jayasuriya have created a winning environment for the players. The team was struggling badly just two or three years ago and sat low on the world rankings. Mendis feels proud about how far they have come since those dark days. The coaching staff takes all the pressure away from the players during tough moments. This allows everyone to play their natural game without worrying about outside distractions.

The right-handed batsman learned a valuable lesson from his previous innings against Bangladesh. He threw away his wicket after making 56 runs from just 31 balls in that match. Mendis blamed himself for the team defeat and vowed to do better next time. Batting coach Thilina Kandamby told him to go for big scores when he gets settled at the crease. The advice worked perfectly as Mendis notched his sixth ODI hundred and helped his team win the crucial match.
