Lake Nakuru park is closed, as Kenya gives free entry everywhere else

Kenya Wildlife Service revised its communication regarding complimentary park access on Friday. The agency excluded Lake Nakuru National Park from the free entry program on Saturday, despite earlier announcements. Officials provided no explanation for removing the popular destination from the September 27 initiative. Visitors holding prepaid tickets may still enter through Nderit Gate between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

The restriction affects only Lake Nakuru, while 33 other facilities maintain free access for Kenyan citizens. Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano launched this World Tourism Day celebration on September 23. The theme focuses on sustainable transformation through tourism development. Accessible locations range from Amboseli National Park to the Malindi Marine National Reserve, spanning multiple counties.
