Leaked Panther Lake chip is dead on arrival due to Intel's 18A woes

Intel processors from the upcoming Panther Lake series appear in leaked specifications through the company's graphics testing portal. Engineers discovered details about a 12-core mobile processor that eliminates hyperthreading technology entirely. The chip operates at a 3000 MHz base frequency with potential boost speeds reaching 3200 MHz. Reports suggest the processor combines four performance cores with eight efficient cores in various configurations. Some sources indicate the design may feature four low-power, efficient cores alongside traditional performance and efficient units.

The leaked processor carries model identification 0xCC with silicon revision 0x2 within Intel's Family 6 designation. Manufacturing will utilize the company's 18A production node with fourth-quarter release targets. However, Intel faces significant challenges with 18A yield rates that could delay production schedules. The Panther Lake family divides into PTL-H mainstream variants and PTL-U efficiency-focused models for mobile devices. Previous portal listings showed mixed accuracy regarding final specifications before official product launches.
