Intel Panther Lake chips get new Ultra X naming scheme

Intel will alter its processor naming convention for the Panther Lake-H series, according to information posted online on Thursday. The company plans to adopt an Ultra X designation that encompasses Ultra X5, Ultra X7, and Ultra X9 classifications for mobile processors built on the 18A manufacturing node.

Four model names surfaced through the leak, and the Core Ultra X9 388H appears as the flagship configuration with specifications that may reach 5.1 GHz clock speeds and 12 Xe3 graphics cores. The Core Ultra X7 368H targets users who require enhanced integrated graphics performance, but the X7 358H and X5 338H models serve mainstream market segments. Panther Lake-H processors will feature Cougar Cove performance cores, Darkmont efficiency cores, and Celestial graphics architecture, with thermal design power ratings ranging from 25 watts to 45 watts.
