Lee Jae-myung sends letter to Modi as Korea and India eye strategic tech ties

Former Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum traveled to India as President Lee Jae-myung's representative this week. Kim presented a personal message from Lee to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their Thursday meeting in New Delhi. The Korean delegation emphasized the decade-long special strategic partnership between both nations. Modi responded by inviting Lee to visit India and expressed enthusiasm for Korean shipbuilding technology. The Indian leader highlighted opportunities for Korean businesses to expand within India's growing economy.

Korean officials requested continued Indian support for resolving North Korean nuclear threats and establishing regional peace. Modi assured the delegation that India would address the challenges facing Korean companies operating within Indian markets. The mission forms part of Lee's broader diplomatic outreach since taking office on June 4. Kim's team also conducted meetings with External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and Speaker Om Birla during their New Delhi visit.
