The Nostalgia Drive Team has released the first work-in-progress build of Left 4 Dead RTX NTD, a visual overhaul of Valve’s 2009 co-op shooter, using the NVIDIA RTX Remix platform. This early build focuses on the No Mercy campaign, featuring high-resolution, physically based rendering materials, enhanced reflections, and manually recreated lighting for a more cinematic experience. Key upgrades include improved shadows, surface textures, and full compatibility with RTX Remix, along with 4K textures and rebuilt normal maps.
The build, available on ModDB at 7.15GB, is not a complete remaster but serves as a technical foundation for future RTX mods. Some visual elements, such as skyboxes and water surfaces, may appear unfinished, and the current version can be performance-intensive due to single-threaded rendering and incomplete effects. The development team is seeking contributors to assist with materials, lighting, assets, and testing through the RTX Remix Showcase Discord channel.
