LG Display reportedly completed a two-stack Tandem WOLED

Stripping a layer out of an OLED panel usually wrecks it, yet LG Display reportedly got a two-stack Tandem WOLED to chase three-stack quality. Stacking more layers lifts efficiency, brightness, and how long the thing survives, but deposition time, material, and money all climb.

The trick involves a fresh blue emitter and splitting the old yellow-green layer into dedicated red and green. Blue comes out stronger, and the native white point drifts near 6,700K.

At the 6,500K and 10,000K settings, results reportedly matched three-stack panels, and the gamut opened wider while drive voltage fell by roughly 4V. Off-axis color shift got tuned down by repositioning where the light emits.

Nobody has said what sizes, resolutions, refresh rates, peak brightness, or timing look like, and no UltraGear monitor or TV has been confirmed. Comparable is a slippery word until someone measures burn-in, power draw, and color volume independently.

Cheaper panels are the gate holding OLED monitors back from going mainstream, and a two-stack that actually works squeezes QD-OLED and Mini LED on price.
