Domboshava will host the sixth Phenomenal Lighting Masterclass and Festival this August. UK-based educator Mildred Moyo brings together lighting designers, sound engineers, performers, and producers from Zimbabwe and neighboring Southern African countries. International experts from the United Kingdom, Ghana, Switzerland, and South Africa will provide instruction during the August 4-10 event. The newly established Ngoma/Ingungu Cultural Arts Centre serves as the venue after organizers moved from Gordon Park in Matopos. Participants will explore the theme "Finding Light in Darkness: The Power of Shadows" through hands-on training sessions.
The program begins with orientation activities before moving into intensive masterclasses from August 5-7. Othnell Moyo will lead music and movement workshops while Simbarashe Mazai handles sound engineering instruction. Public festival performances will showcase collaborative work on August 8-9. UK-based Petok Productions manages the event alongside local organizers. The masterclass has operated since 2019 as a platform for technical arts education across Southern Africa.
