Lindi cops nail festive speeders, keep roads tight

Cops in Lindi are actually not screwing up their traffic jobs. During a surprise inspection by bigwigs from the national traffic police force in Dodoma, the Lindi region's traffic unit got some rare praise. Senior Superintendent Matibu Mbunja, the head road safety education officer, and Chief Legal Officer Superintendent Mussa Manyama visited the area to check on things. They specifically called out the Lindi Regional Traffic Police Commander, Superintendent James Makumu, for running a tight ship.

Mbunja said the unit was doing good work watching for speeders, keeping their paperwork straight, and actually throwing the book at drivers who break laws. He also liked that Makumu was big on teaching drivers and passengers about safety. Mbunja told all the officers at the unit to keep doing their jobs right, sticking to the rules, and staying honest. Over at the Nangurukuru checkpoint, the legal boss, Manyama, had his own talk with the officers doing inspections. He told them to follow the law to the letter and avoid playing favorites, reminding them of the police motto about discipline, justice, and professionalism.

The whole point of the visit was to push the idea that stopping crashes nationwide is actually achievable. The officials seemed genuinely surprised to find a regional office that had its act together on monitoring and enforcement.
