Livestock power surges in Tanzania, farmers cash in

Tanzania's livestock game has been leveling up hard under President Samia Suluhu Hassan. The sector pulled in 6.2 percent of GDP this year with 5 percent growth, and it's keeping about 4.6 million households employed. Total livestock value jumped from 30.49 trillion shillings to 33.22 trillion shillings, while cattle numbers climbed to over 39.2 million and chickens hit 108.2 million.

Meat output went up 9.4 percent to more than 1,054,114 tonnes worth 10.38 trillion shillings. Milk production reached 4.01 billion liters, and dairy cattle increased to 1.41 million. The government has been pushing commercial farming methods and better disease control.

Feed production tripled to 14,185 tonnes, and grazing land expanded to 3.49 million hectares. They're also upgrading slaughterhouses and dairy processing plants to hit regional standards. The whole thing is creating jobs, boosting food security, and helping Tanzania compete in international markets.
