LPM demands action on resource inequality ahead of elections

The Landless People's Movement has called for stronger measures to combat economic disparity across Namibia as the opposition party campaigns ahead of regional and municipal contests. Youth command leader Duminga Ndala addressed supporters in Kalkrand within the Hardap region, asserting that three decades since independence have brought minimal progress for ordinary citizens struggling with unemployment, hunger, and inadequate education.

Ndala stated that roughly 1.6 million Namibians endure extreme poverty, representing 65 percent of the population, while criticizing the governing Swapo party for failing to address systemic challenges. The activist characterized Hardap as simultaneously serving as an economic center yet suffering from chronic underdevelopment and the nation's steepest poverty levels, arguing that liberation efforts must continue beyond the 1990 transition.
