Luka Modric ignites AC Milan revival in move from Real Madrid

AC Milan secured the signature of Luka Modric on a one-year contract after the midfielder completed his 13-season tenure with Real Madrid. The 39-year-old Ballon d'Or recipient realized his childhood ambition by joining the Italian club he admired while growing up. Modric idolized former Milan star Zvonimir Boban during his youth in Croatia. The veteran playmaker aims to restore Milan's competitive edge after their eighth-place finish in the Serie A last season eliminated them from European competitions. Sporting director Igli Tare traveled personally to Croatia to persuade Modric about the club's rebuilding vision.

Massimiliano Allegri returns as head coach to guide Milan's revival, with Modric as a key figure in the squad transformation. The Croatian midfielder will wear jersey number 14, while Rafael Leão will continue to wear the number 10 shirt. Modric emphasized Milan's need to pursue major trophies rather than settle for mediocrity. The experienced player expressed determination to earn his position through hard work and dedication. His contract includes an option for a second season, contingent upon performance and mutual agreement.
