Mabel Chinomona warns Zanu-PF members ahead of Mutare conference

Zanu-PF Women’s League leader Mabel Chinomona has warned party members against actions that could disrupt the upcoming annual conference, highlighting tensions within the party. Speaking at a women's empowerment program at Chiwetu Training Center in Makoni West, Chinomona urged unity ahead of the 22nd annual national people’s conference, set for October 13-18 at the Mutare Polytechnic Pavilion Grounds.

She cautioned members against damaging the party and stated that she would suspend anyone spreading falsehoods before the event. Chinomona’s remarks reflect ongoing divisions over attempts to extend President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term beyond 2028, with some loyalists pushing for a 2030 extension.

At the event, Information Minister Jenfan Muswere and ICT Minister Tatenda Mavetera voiced support for Mnangagwa, while Provincial Affairs Minister Misheck Mugadza emphasized women’s involvement in empowerment projects. The event underscored both political maneuvering and the party’s focus on women’s empowerment.
