MACC Investigates MyKiosk Tender, No Crime Found Yet

Malaysia's top corruption fighter cleared up confusion about a government building project investigation on Friday. Tan Sri Azam Baki told reporters that his team found no crimes in the MyKiosk tender case. The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief said newspapers got the story wrong when they reported criminal charges. His officers looked into the Housing Ministry's building contracts and decided to focus on paperwork problems instead. The investigation aims to help the ministry fix any issues with how it handles business deals.

Azam spoke to the press after watching two officials switch jobs at the corruption agency's Kelantan office. He praised the Housing Ministry for working well with investigators during the probe. The corruption commission started looking into complaints about the MyKiosk project after getting tips from political groups. Officials want to make sure the government spends taxpayer money the right way on these building contracts.

The corruption chief also talked about a separate case involving former Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob. Government lawyers plan to ask judges to keep 170 million ringgit they took from the ex-leader. Courts will decide if Ismail Sabri can challenge the money grab or if the cash goes back to the government. Investigators suspect the former prime minister misused funds meant for promoting his Keluarga Malaysia program between 2021 and 2022.
