Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority broke ground on a new computer facility at Tomali Primary School in Chikwawa District. The ceremony took place in Ingadzi village under Paramount Chief Lundu as part of efforts to expand digital access to remote communities. Consumer Affairs officer Patience Nkombezi cited the 2023 National Survey findings that revealed significant gaps in rural ICT availability. Parliamentary aspirant Salimu Bagus praised the initiative while urging residents to protect the facility from damage. Head teacher Eustace Namagowa highlighted how students will gain valuable technological skills for future opportunities.
The laboratory will feature 60 computers with complimentary internet service lasting three years. MACRA plans to establish 120 similar facilities across the nation through its Connect A School initiative.
