Mafia - The Old Country goes gold ahead of August release

Hangar 13 shared that their upcoming video game Mafia: The Old Country has reached gold status before its August 8 launch date. The development team posted a brief video on social media to announce this milestone. They can shift their focus to final touches and preparations for the summer release.

The Old Country serves as a prequel story that brings back the Mafia franchise after nearly a decade. The last completely new Mafia game came out back in 2016. Since that time, fans have only received updated versions of older games rather than fresh content.

Hangar 13 promises this will be the most visually impressive Mafia game ever made. The studio worked with Italian company Stormind Games to create an accurate Italian experience for players. Senior project manager Salvo Fallica says they wanted everything to feel genuine and real.

Lead writer Matthew Aitken explains that small details help keep players engaged with the game world. The development teams spent considerable time making sure the Italian setting looks and feels authentic. Hangar 13 has shown lots of gameplay footage and discussed their hard work on this project.

Gamers will discover in August whether this new Mafia game successfully revives the beloved crime series. The studio hopes their efforts will deliver a strong comeback for the franchise after years without new content.
