Magadza walks free, chats clear her of ZiG theft claims

An Econet Insurance agent named Medeline Magadza just got cleared of theft charges. The 32-year-old from Mutare was accused of pocketing over 1.1 million ZiG from the company. Mutare Magistrate Perseverance Makala dropped the case before the defense even had to start.

The key evidence came from her lawyer, Memory Mandingwa. They presented emails and WhatsApp messages between Magadza and her direct supervisor. These communications showed she had properly accounted for all the money. The magistrate stated the state completely failed to make its case, noting an understanding between Magadza and her boss was clear from the chats.

The case started from an internal investigation. A security official from Econet named Gift Zumbika testified about missing funds from vehicle insurance and license renewals. He provided documents suggesting she never sent the money in. Magadza's own evidence, however, directly contradicted that, proving the funds were settled. The court found no reason to continue, leading to her acquittal.
