Mahlalentabeni alive after fake death report

A reality star's family said she was dead, but she's actually alive. The family of Flora Makena, known as Mahlalentabeni from the show Umndeni, confirmed she survived a recent medical crisis after initially announcing her death. Her sister Nomvula described finding her unresponsive with a cold body and foam at her mouth last Friday, a traumatic event that made them think she had died. Makena was rushed to intensive care and later regained consciousness, now discharged but still fragile.

The incident followed an apparent suicide attempt on Christmas Eve via pill overdose, which her mother reportedly stopped. This was not her first attempt, leaving the family scared she might try again. They connect her mental state to a dispute with the channel Moja Love, claiming she was not paid while co-stars Dabula and Maseko were. The family says she faced cruel online comments after complaining and alleges a senior figure told her to ask for her money on TikTok. They also claim she endured unreported abuse from co-star Maseko during filming, continuing only because she is the household breadwinner.

Moja Love spokesperson Nonzwakazi Cekete denied all allegations. The channel stated it never bullied Makena or used unfair labor practices, pointing to serious personal and mental health challenges unrelated to production. They claim all contractual payments were made, including an advance, and note Makena had domestic issues and unexplained absences from set.
