Malawi Queens set to rule netball, fueled by home pride and rewards

Malawi's netball squad dropped its final 15-player roster for the African Netball Cup happening at Griffin Saenda Sports Complex in Lilongwe. Head coach Peace Kalua Chawinga wrapped up a three-week training camp before cutting five athletes from the provisional list, and she's hyped about the mix of young talent and veteran players ready to compete for the continental trophy. Deputy Director Mary Waya from the Ministry of Sports backed the team and mentioned that hosting gives locals a rare chance to catch elite netball at home.

Nico Group threw money at the Queens with K250,000 per win for each player and K500,000 each if they win the championship. Corporate Affairs Manager Mbumba Mlia-Tasauka said the incentive package aims to fire up the squad while showing the company's commitment to growing the sport. Netball Association president Vitumbiko Gubuduza welcomed the sponsorship and thinks the team can deliver something special on home turf.
