Malaysia Bets on Stronger France Ties for High-Tech Growth

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim landed in Paris for a major two-day visit. He plans to meet French President Emmanuel Macron at the fancy Élysée Palace tomorrow. The leaders will talk about trade deals and ways their countries can work together better. Anwar told Malaysian expats living in France that this partnership could really help Malaysia grow. He wants to find fresh opportunities for both nations to benefit.

Malaysia has moved beyond just buying French planes from Airbus. Malaysian companies actually make parts for these aircraft manufacturers back home. Anwar pointed out that his country attracts tons of high-tech businesses, especially electronics firms. He urged Malaysian students studying in France to return home after graduation. These students could land great jobs in Malaysia's booming tech sector.

Six top Malaysian ministers joined Anwar for this important trip. The two countries already do serious business together, with France ranking among Malaysia's top five European trading partners. Their trade hit RM15.95 billion last year, which equals about US$3.63 billion. Just between January and May this year, they traded RM6.26 billion worth of goods. The leaders will discuss renewable energy, semiconductors, defense, education, digital business, and artificial intelligence during their meeting.
