Maldives diaspora children greet Modi with dance, PM breaks protocol to applaud them

Indian diaspora children welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi through classical dance performances at Kurumba Village Resort on Friday. The young performers wore traditional clothing and had rehearsed for weeks to showcase their cultural heritage. Modi removed security barriers to personally congratulate each child after their presentation. One student described the encounter as dreamlike and unforgettable. Parents expressed deep emotion at witnessing their children interact with the Prime Minister.

The reception formed part of Modi's two-day state visit to the Maldives. President Mohamed Muizzu had earlier received the Prime Minister at Velana International Airport with ceremonial honors and traditional music. Modi serves as Guest of Honor for the nation's 60th Independence Day celebrations. This marks his third visit to the island nation and represents the first such visit during President Muizzu's administration. The diplomatic engagement demonstrates India's commitment to strengthening regional partnerships through the Neighbourhood First policy framework.
