Mani Ratnam raves about 18 Miles prologue by Sathish Selvakumar

Acclaimed filmmaker Mani Ratnam praised the prologue of the upcoming romantic drama 18 Miles after viewing it at Madras Talkies office. Director Sathish Selvakumar revealed that Ratnam commended the work's elegance and attention to detail during the private screening. The veteran director took time to acknowledge each team member individually, from lead actress Mirnaa to assistant Ashok and editor Nash. Executive Producer Shivanand also offered encouraging words to the production team. Selvakumar expressed particular joy since Ratnam's Kannathil Muthammittal had inspired his filmmaking journey.

The 14-minute prologue presents a love story between Tharana, a Sri Lankan Tamil still affected by ethnic violence, and a compassionate Indian naval officer portrayed by Ashok Selvan. The officer attempts to provide comfort to the traumatized woman through their relationship. Siddhu Kumar composed the music while Ezhil Arasu K handled cinematography for the production. Amarnath Rajaram served as co-director with Nash editing and M Devendran providing art direction. Azar choreographed the dance sequences for this poignant cross-cultural romance.
