Maraga tells Matiang’i to adopt my vision or stay out of the 2027 race

Retired Chief Justice David Maraga has established strict prerequisites for any potential alliance with former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i in the 2027 presidential contest. Maraga stipulated that prospective partners must embrace his platform centered on strengthening judicial independence and intensifying anti-corruption efforts while accepting his candidacy as the coalition's standard-bearer.

The ex-jurist expressed willingness to collaborate with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, his former law school classmate at the University of Nairobi, contingent upon Musyoka's endorsement of his reform agenda. Maraga categorically rejected cooperation with President William Ruto, characterizing their political philosophies as fundamentally incompatible and criticizing alleged human rights violations under the current administration.
