Marvel and NetEase just announced their third season for Marvel Rivals. The new content drops on July 11 with Phoenix as the latest playable hero. Players can explore a fresh map called Klyntar where Celestial Husk waits for battle. The company plans to release new seasons every two months from here on out. Season 3 brings special events and team combinations between different characters.
Phoenix teams up with Jean Grey to fight against dark forces threatening the universe. The powerful duo travels across space helping people throughout the galaxy. Evil darkness has already corrupted many gods according to the game story. Phoenix decided to burn away this terrible threat at its source. The character joins the Duelist category for combat gameplay.
The new battlefield takes place where Knull killed multiple Celestials long ago. One severed Celestial head drifted away and became the famous location Knowhere. The remaining body stayed near planet Klyntar and slowly rotted from cosmic forces. Pieces of the dead Celestial crash down onto the planet surface creating the map.
Season 3 adds four new team combinations and updates the mission system completely. A competitive mode arrives later during the season along with hero Blade. College students can try out ten different costumes after email verification. The game makers will rotate these outfits each season for verified students.
Marvel Rivals returns to San Diego Comic-Con from July 24 through July 27. Fans can play demos and attend panels at the Marriott Marquis hotel. Friday features a special presentation about creating heroes from ideas to final versions.
