Masechaba Mposwa is shattered by the loss of her struggle hero mom

Broadcast journalist Masechaba Mposwa mourns the death of her mother, Sibongile Promise Imelda Khumalo, a decorated liberation fighter who joined the armed resistance at fourteen after witnessing the Soweto Uprising. The 63-year-old veteran served as a Radio Freedom broadcaster and Umkhonto weSizwe operative, dedicating her youth to dismantling apartheid through military training and underground communications work.

The African National Congress celebrated Khumalo's revolutionary contributions, praising her lifelong dedication to military veterans and grassroots activism. The South African Royal Princess Network remembered her exceptional courage and resilience throughout decades of struggle against racial oppression.

Mposwa described losing not just a parent but a warrior whose voice carried truth across borders during the liberation movement. The daughter honored her mother's sacrifice, acknowledging that generations of South Africans benefit from the revolutionary spirit and fearless commitment that defined Khumalo's remarkable existence.
