Maurene Comey fired in New York as Trump feud intensifies over FBI controversy

Federal prosecutors dismissed Maurene Comey from her role at the Southern District of New York office. The daughter of former FBI Director James Comey lost her position amid political tensions surrounding her father's public disputes with President Trump. A source told CNN that holding the Comey surname creates an impossible situation under the current administration. Her career involved prosecuting major cases against Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, who received a 20-year prison sentence after conviction.

Comey recently handled the Sean "Diddy" Combs prosecution, where jurors rejected racketeering and trafficking charges but convicted the entertainer on Mann Act violations for interstate transport related to prostitution. Meanwhile, FBI Director Kash Patel's team examines James Comey's deleted beach post featuring "8647" shells, which critics interpreted as coded language against Trump. The numbers potentially reference "86," meaning elimination, and "47," representing Trump's presidential number. Justice Department officials have not commented publicly on the termination decision.
