Mawuli SHS 2000 Year Group supports Ho Female Prisons

Alumni from Mawuli Senior High School's class of 2000 brought food, toiletries and household goods to women held at Ho Central Female Prisons as their graduating class marked 25 years since leaving school. The group delivered yams, cassava, rice, soap and water while spending time with prisoners to offer encouragement. Lawyer Seyram Darbi said graduates wanted to help people with fewer advantages as part of their celebrations.

The prison commander thanked the donors and asked other groups to follow their example. Millicent Akity said 16 women live at the facility with 10 serving sentences, one awaiting trial and five held before court hearings. Two infants and one expecting mother stay at the prison with the inmates.

Divine Akuaku said the group plans to assist male prisoners next, after starting with women. The alumni will give school officials a restored classroom building on Sunday, October 26, 2025. Members expressed worry about pregnant women and children living in detention centers and asked authorities to examine current policies.
