Mbappe aims to overcome Barcelona's offside trap in Clásico

Kylian Mbappe faces Barcelona again on Sunday at Santiago Bernabeu, seeking redemption after falling into the offside trap eight times in last year's 4-0 defeat. The French forward recorded his worst performance since 2017, when statistics tracking began, struggling against Hansi Flick's defensive system, which averaged 4.89 offsides per match this season.

Barcelona leads Europe's top five leagues in forcing opponents offside, surpassing last season's average of 4.76. Flick maintains his high-pressing strategy despite personnel changes on defense, while Carlo Ancelotti acknowledged his squad failed to counter the trap last season.

Mbappe enters the clash with improved offside numbers compared to last year. Real Madrid aims to solve Barcelona's defensive puzzle that has consistently neutralized the striker's attacking threat in previous meetings.
