MCP's Jessie Kabwila calls 72 percent win for Chakwera as Lilongwe election heat rises

Jessie Kabwila predicted the Malawi Congress Party presidential nominee would claim 72 percent of the votes during the September 16 General Elections. The party spokesperson challenged recent polling data that suggested different outcomes. Kabwila addressed reporters this evening to reinforce the party's electoral optimism.

The MCP representative highlighted infrastructure achievements during President Lazarus Chakwera's initial three years despite pandemic disruptions. She accused the former Democratic Progressive Party government of widespread corruption involving development funds. Kabwila claimed party officials and their security personnel participated in systematic theft.

Kabwila announced that university students would receive laptops and internet packages under the current administration. The technology initiative aims to reduce educational inequality across digital platforms. The spokesperson positioned these programs as evidence of effective governance compared to previous leadership.
