Authorities have called for active media involvement to ensure the success of the nationwide typhoid vaccination campaign, which begins on Oct. 12. The appeal was made at a workshop titled “TCV Vaccination Campaign 2025” at the National Institute of Mass Communication in Dhaka on Monday.
Additional Secretary Mohammad Altaf-ul-Alam emphasized the media’s crucial role in public health, stressing the need for broad engagement to reach all communities. NIMC Director General Muhammad Hiruzzaman said past campaigns against polio and cholera succeeded with strong media support and expressed hope for similar results with TCV.
Approximately 70 journalists attended the workshop, where they received information on vaccine safety, target groups, and campaign strategies. The campaign aims to vaccinate children and adolescents aged nine months to under 15 years, including underserved and floating populations, using the WHO-approved Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine at schools and EPI centers. Experts stated that a single dose provides long-term protection for this vulnerable age group.
