Mensah Stresses Mental Shift as Ghana Leads 2026 World Cup Qualifiers

Ghana defender Gideon Mensah wants his national team to stay sharp during their final World Cup qualifying matches. The Black Stars control Group I with 15 points from six games. Their recent victories against Chad and Madagascar strengthened their position at the top of the standings. The team aims to reach the 2026 tournament that will take place across the United States, Canada and Mexico. These results have boosted confidence about securing qualification.

The squad will return to competition during September for two crucial fixtures. They face Chad and Mali in matches that could determine their tournament fate. Their qualifying campaign ends during October with games against Central African Republic and Comoros. Mensah believes the team needs a mental adjustment rather than major roster changes. The AJ Auxerre player spoke about maintaining the right approach for the remaining contests.

Ghana seeks their fifth World Cup appearance after participating in four previous tournaments. The West African nation competed during the 2006 edition held across Germany. They also played at the 2010 tournament staged throughout South Africa. Brazil hosted their 2014 appearance before they returned for the 2022 event held across Qatar. Mensah stressed that attitude matters more than tactical adjustments for the upcoming matches.
