Spitfire Audio has released Mervyn Warren Choir, a virtual instrument developed with five-time Grammy Award winner Mervyn Warren. The software captures Black choir vocals outside traditional gospel settings for use in pop, R&B, film, television and video game production. Recording took place at Evergreen Studios in Los Angeles with engineer Frank Wolf and performers such as Alvin Chea from Take 6, Stephen D. Mackay II from The Voice and Nikki Grier from American Idol.
The library provides vocal articulations, body percussion sounds and performance controls through Spitfire Audio's Ensemble engine. Features span vowels, hums, extended bass notes reaching A0, handclaps, stomps and fingersnaps. The instrument works on Windows 10 or later and macOS 11 or higher with VST2, VST3, AU and AAX formats. Pricing starts at 279 pounds or 319 euros through Thursday, Nov. 6, before rising to 349 pounds or 399 euros.
