Messi's MLS multi-goal streak ends as FC Cincinnati routs Inter Miami

FC Cincinnati terminated Lionel Messi's Major League Soccer record for consecutive multi-goal performances at five games during a decisive 3-0 victory over Inter Miami. The Argentine forward had netted two goals per match across five straight contests, accumulating 16 seasonal goals while Miami secured four victories and one draw. Barcelona represented the last club where Messi achieved such sustained scoring excellence in 2012.

Cincinnati's defensive strategy restricted Miami to merely two shots on target throughout the encounter. Gerardo Valenzuela opened scoring for the hosts after 16 minutes, while Brazilian striker Evander added goals in the 50th and 70th minutes. Miami's record stands at 11 wins, four losses, and five draws for 38 points, placing them fifth in the Eastern Conference.

Philadelphia maintains the overall MLS lead with 39 points, one point ahead of Cincinnati. Inter Miami trails the conference leaders by eight points despite holding three games in hand over both rivals.
