Miami gunman kills self after shooting 2 officers in standoff

A man who shot two police officers in Miami early Thursday before barricading himself inside a house was later found dead, police said. The city's police chief, Manuel A. Morales, confirmed the man, identified as 27-year-old Mason Triana, died from either a self-inflicted gunshot wound or in a shootout with officers.

The incident began just before 7 a.m. when officers responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle in the Allapattah area. Upon arrival, the officers came under fire, injuring one in the knee and the other in the ankle. Both officers are in stable condition.

After a standoff, Triana, armed with an AK-47-style rifle, exchanged gunfire with law enforcement before being found dead. He had prior arrests. Authorities are investigating the motive behind the dispute, which reportedly involved Triana and his brother over the vehicle.
