Minister Reviews Progress on Pakistan's Digital Gender Inclusion Strategy

Pakistan's tech minister gathered leaders for a major meeting about helping women use digital services better. Shaza Fatima Khawaja led the second session of the Digital Gender Inclusion committee at her government office. The minister talked about Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's plan to create equal tech access for all citizens. She shared exciting news about women getting better internet access across the country. The latest research shows Pakistani women are using mobile internet much more than before.

The gender gap for mobile internet dropped from 38 percent down to just 25 percent. Women using mobile internet jumped from 33 percent up to 45 percent during the same period. The minister praised a special project that gave digital wallets to 800,000 women during Ramadan. This program helped women handle money better and gave them more power over their finances. The digital wallet system made it easier for women to save money and buy things without cash.

Minister Khawaja told all departments to send reports every three months about their progress. She wants clear goals with specific deadlines that show real results for women. The minister believes investing more money in women-focused tech programs will change society for the better. She explained that helping one woman helps her whole family succeed. Many organizations joined the meeting such as UNESCO, telecom companies, universities, and government agencies.
