Ministry activates online portal for 2026 Form One placements

Zimbabwe's education ministry activated its digital Form One placement system for 2026 admissions despite Grade Seven final results remaining pending. Officials confirmed the eMAP portal will accept applications through December 31. This launch follows allegations that some school administrators manipulated the platform to reserve spots for students whose families paid illicit fees, undermining merit-based placements.

Families may list up to five boarding schools without ranking preferences. Ministry guidance explains that acceptance by any chosen institution instantly voids all other applications. Parents receive immediate notification when a school offers placement, triggering this automatic cancellation process.

Education authorities warn that refusing an offered boarding position permanently forfeits that opportunity with no reconsideration. They emphasized that rejected slots immediately transfer to waiting students. While stressing they bear no responsibility for declined placements, officials assured all children will secure day-school positions if boarding options prove unavailable. Families are advised to select only institutions they would accept.
