Military Institute of Science and Technology held an environmental festival over two days. The Department of Environmental, Water Resources, and Coastal Engineering ran the event from June 28 to 29. Students gathered to mark World Environment Day with activities focused on fighting plastic pollution. The festival brought together engineering students from universities across Bangladesh. Organizers wanted participants to learn about environmental protection and find new solutions.
Four different contests gave students chances to share their ideas. Participants competed through poster presentations and geographic information system case studies. Students also wrote articles about environmental issues and joined quiz competitions. The events helped young people express creative approaches to pollution problems. Winners received recognition for their environmental knowledge and innovative thinking.
Armed Forces Division leader Lt Gen S M Kamrul Hassan spoke as the main guest. He urged immediate action against plastic waste that harms the environment. Major General Md Nasim Parvez from MIST emphasized the need for public education about plastic alternatives. Both military leaders connected environmental protection to national security concerns. They praised student efforts to address climate change through research and activism.
