Temba Mliswa is cheering ZANU PF's call to push back the Politburo's extraordinary meeting, and he says it stopped a move against President Emmerson Mnangagwa. The former Mashonaland West provincial boss for the party calls the delay the right decision and a necessary one.
No new date has been set yet. Christopher Mutsvangwa, ZANU PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, confirmed the delay and said the party would share one when it's ready.
Farai Marapira, the party's Director for Information and Publicity, played it down as a scheduling clash and nothing major.
Mliswa isn't buying that. Over on X, he said the delay shielded Mnangagwa from a Gang of Four out for themselves, and he named Secretary for Legal Affairs Ziyambi Ziyambi as one of them.
His version goes like this. The crew allegedly tried to spring a pile of sweeping measures on the Politburo, but neither the President, who is the party's First Secretary, nor the Secretary General had been looped in.
Mliswa says the group was never genuinely behind the 2030 agenda or CAB3. In his view, none of the proposals reflected official party policy, and the whole push was a power grab that skipped the proper channels.
According to Mliswa, that irregularity got spotted and resisted, which is why the meeting got delayed. He's calling it a coup-by-procedure aimed at Mnangagwa, caught early and shut down. None of that has been independently verified, though.
Mliswa was actually clapping back at Jealousy Mawarire, who used to speak for the National Patriotic Front (NPF). That group was tied to former President Robert Mugabe after he got pushed out of power.
Mawarire's take is that the meeting fell apart over a fight about proposed changes. He claims Vice President Constantino Chiwenga called them illegal, since they leaned on parts of a national constitution that Mawarire says was amended illegally.
