Mnangagwa rains cash on Zimbabwe Sables to crush Kenya in Uganda rugby war

President Mnangagwa handed the Sables rugby team a massive $100,000 cash boost at State House yesterday. He challenged the national rugby squad to promote Zimbabwe's image and tourism while competing in Uganda. The money comes as Zimbabwe defends their Rugby Africa Cup title from last year. The President told the players they are brand ambassadors for the country. He wants them to use their international platform to attract investment and visitors.

The Sables crushed Morocco 43-8 in their quarter-final match earlier during the tournament. They face Kenya in the semi-final on Sunday with a World Cup spot on the line. Only the tournament winner gets automatic qualification for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia. Captain Hilton Mudariki and his teammates received the President's blessing to fly Zimbabwe's flag high. The government boss praised the team's growth and development across the continent.

ZRU chief executive Sifiso Made called the presidential cash injection a game changer for the squad. He said the money will motivate players and help them support their families. The incentive gives the team extra drive knowing the government backs them. Made emphasized that while they play for Zimbabwe first, financial support helps push them over the line. The winner of the Zimbabwe-Kenya semi-final will face either Namibia or Algeria in the final.
