Modi cabinet greenlights Rs 3,320 crore NH-160A upgrade in Maharashtra

A massive highway overhaul just got the green light, pumping Rs 3,320.38 crore into NH-160A and setting up a freight reroute that could unclog Nashik while linking key expressways.

NH-160A upgrade cleared by CCEA
  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved the revamp of NH-160A in Maharashtra.

  • The project stretches 154.635 kms from Ghoti to Palghar.

  • Traffic from the Mumbai side will shift through the Samrudhi Expressway at Igatpuri.
Connectivity and capacity boost
  • Vehicles will move along NH-848 to Ghoti before switching to NH-160A.
  • From 2028, daily flow is projected to cross 10,000 PCUs.
  • Stretch toward Manor links to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and NH-48.
  • The Palghar urban segment with 12,000 PCUs is slated for four lanes.
