Modi moves fast as Nepal bus tragedy victims flown home to Jalgaon

Union Minister Raksha Khadse detailed Prime Minister Modi's direct response to a fatal Nepal bus crash in April 2024. The accident occurred when a vehicle carrying approximately fifty passengers plunged 150 meters into the Marsyangdi River near Kathmandu. Twenty-five people died instantly from the impact. Khadse contacted the Prime Minister's Office for travel authorization while Modi was conducting official business overseas. Principal Secretary P.K. Mishra facilitated immediate communication between the minister and the prime minister.

Modi granted swift approval for Khadse's emergency trip and assigned Nepal's ambassador to assist with rescue operations. Hospital staff had prepared medical documentation for injured survivors before Khadse's arrival. Nepalese officials expedited post-mortem procedures and released bodies within four hours of completion. Modi personally arranged a defense aircraft to transport the deceased back to Jalgaon. The plane arrived at six o'clock that evening with all the remains aboard.
