Modi Set to Snatch Ghana's Star of Honor in Accra

India's top leader Narendra Modi lands tomorrow for a massive two-day trip that will make history. Ghana plans to give him their biggest award called the Order of the Star of Ghana during his stay. Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa told reporters about the huge visit at his office Monday. Modi becomes the first Indian prime minister to step foot on Ghanaian soil for more than thirty years. The trip aims to boost friendship between both countries that goes back over sixty years.

President John Dramani Mahama will welcome Modi at the presidential palace called Jubilee House. The Indian leader will speak to Ghana's lawmakers during a special parliament session. Both countries plan to sign many deals covering business, roads, hospitals, schools and computer technology. Modi joins famous world leaders who earned Ghana's top honor before him. French leader Jacques Chirac, Kenya's William Ruto and former Ivory Coast president Laurent Gbagbo all received the same award.

India and Ghana share strong bonds through government talks, business deals, technology sharing and cultural exchanges. Indian companies have pumped money into Ghana's medicine factories, power plants and farms over many years. Both nations have worked together on development projects under different governments. Modi's historic visit should strengthen these partnerships and create fresh ways to work together. The trip comes as both countries look for new opportunities amid changing world politics and economics.
