Modi to dedicate Rs 7,000 crore projects in Tamil Nadu

Over Rs 7,000 crore worth of development projects hitting Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in a single Sunday visit puts Modi's infrastructure push front and center.

Modi's Puducherry stop and key projects

• Narendra Modi is inaugurating and laying foundation stones for projects worth over Rs 2,700 crore in Puducherry.
• A 750-acre Karasur-Sedarapet Industrial Estate is being dedicated to the nation.
• The estate will house a Pharma Park, Textile Park, IT Park, an IIT Madras R&D centre, and JIPMER healthcare facilities.
• Four-laning of the Marakkanam-Puducherry section of NH-332A is also getting a foundation-stone moment.

Road projects and what they mean for commuters

• The Marakkanam-Puducherry NH-332A four-laning will cut travel time by nearly 50 per cent.
• That's roughly a drop from one hour down to about 30 minutes for commuters.
• The Paramakudi-Ramanathapuram section of NH-87 is also getting the four-laning treatment.

Modi's Madurai leg and railway upgrades

• Projects worth over Rs 4,400 crore are being launched at a public meeting in Madurai.
• Eight railway stations are getting redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
• Pollachi Junction, Karaikkudi Junction, Thiruvarur Junction, and Sholavandan are among the redeveloped stations.
• Modi is also scheduled to offer prayers at Arulmigu Subramaniyaswamy Temple in Tirupparankundram around 4 p.m.
