Modi touts traditional medicine as global balance fix

Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted traditional medicine as a solution for modern health imbalances during a World Health Organization summit. Speaking at the concluding event in Delhi, he stated that issues like poor gut health, workplace stress, and sleep disruption represent a global urgency. India’s ancient practice of Ayurveda, centered on equilibrium, was presented as a guiding principle.

Modi noted that rapid technological change and sedentary lifestyles will create future health challenges, requiring proactive approaches. He addressed common skepticism about traditional treatments by emphasizing evidence-based validation, citing the global demand for Ashwagandha during the pandemic as an example. India is promoting research and digital tools to strengthen credibility in the field.

Several new initiatives were launched at the summit, including a master digital portal for the Ayush sector and a quality certification mark for its products. The Prime Minister also inaugurated a new WHO regional office complex in Delhi, calling it a gift from India. He urged greater international cooperation on research and regulatory frameworks for traditional medicine.
